Thank you for joining this new online community! As a group, we will try to build upon the support and help that occurs around the city in many of the wonderful support meetings. We will also offer support to those women that can't attend groups and need an online outlet. By focusing locally, we will be better able to relate, aid, and support one another. And, hopefully, we will being to create a growing Indy culture of Breast is Best!!

Thanks Aly! I think you are right! I hope you have a smooth transition during the weaning. It is so bittersweet!

I don't think you should feel guilty. :) The nursing you have done has given him a wonderful defense against a lot of germs out there. Looking at the date of your post, maybe it was the timing? Seems January thru March this past winter both of my ...

I've done this many times when my youngest, Charlie (16 mos), has gotten vaccinated. He can be a biter at times, so I was worried he would clamp down as they gave him the shot, but it was quite the opposite. He held on for security & cried only fo...

I joined this group because this is my goal, to at least to past the age of one. My son Ocean didn't want to get past the age of 10 months. Now that I think about it, it may have been because I worked when I was nursing him so he got a bottle of b...

Breastfeeding in Ghana

I love to see images of women breastfeeding, there is nothing more beautiful! This project by the Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation documents the breastfeeding initiative in Ghana. The images are precious!

6 months and still nursing :)

I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to nurse, I had heard so many Mom's have trouble with it. Yes it was a challenge at first but after the first few weeks it's the easiest job in the world and the most rewarding. Having that time with your baby is so special. My daughter is 6 months old now, we recently started solids (fruits) and I don't know where we would be without nursing and having the support of the ladies here on this website. Thanks!

Woman Fired for Pumping At Work

I had to share this article. I am appalled that in this day and age the woman was fired for taking breaks to pump milk and a court agreed it was not discrimination. At the same time, I love the sarcasm this writer has toward the whole thing. Shame on Isotoner/Totes. Their email is customeraffairs@totes.com should you wish to express yourself :)

Natural foods to increase milk supply

Here is a great article on things that nursing moms can eat to help their supply. It is full of helpful information on the what, how, and why of different veggies, spices, herbs, etc.
